Pebble Pink, Net Gains (and Losses), and Inspiring Ocean Voices: November Recap!

beach clean

Our monthly recaps, designed to keep you informed about everything we've been up to as a business. Each month, we'll provide a overview of our latest projects, milestones, and behind-the-scenes insights. Whether it's updates on new initiatives, achievements, or glimpses into the daily workings of our team, these recaps will give you an insider's look at our journey. We hope these updates will not only keep you connected with our progress but also inspire and engage you with the exciting developments happening at Seashell. Here's how our November went!

We Weighed Our Ghost Net Haul (and didn't hit a tonne!) 😱

ghost net

Our Ghost Net Campaign was launched back in May. Since then, we've collected net and rope from 7 locations across the Scottish coastline. Our goal was to reach 1000kg (1 tonne) hence the campaign name, Ghost Net 1000, by the end of this year.  In early November, with the help of Ross Connan of Connon Brothers who helped us with a truck, heavy lifting, and weigh bridge access, our team sorted and weighed the total haul. Watch the day here!

To our surprise, the figure came in at 580kg! Although we didn't hit the 1-tonne goal, we're not backing down. We've made solid progress, and every net pulled so far is a small victory. the mission is bigger than any number, and pride aside - it's about making a real impact, highlighting the problem, and showing you guys just how much effort it takes. We're committed to transparency and will continue to share every step of the way.

Turning The Plastic Tide! 🗑️

Jessie and David from Team Seashell joined The East Grampian Coastal Project for a November Beach Clean this month at the Donmouth area of Aberdeen Beach. Hosted by marine biologist and project manager Lauren Smith, with volunteers from the local branch of RBS, 38kg of trash was collected in just under 2 hours.

EGCP's 'Turning the Plastic Tide' project brings together communities schools, and corporations to tackle local beach pollution. Find out more, donate, and book a clean here.

We Launched a Robe In PINK! 💕

You've been asking for a while, so this month we launched our sixth colour to the collection: a stunning pebble pink! This new and improved design also features adjustable hood toggles for an even better fit. Like the rest of the range, it's crafted from 100% recycled materials, is fully weatherproof, and treated with an eco-friendly coating to ensure it remains waterproof up to 10,000mm. We don't have them in stock just yet, but pre-order is open now for January

We Teamed Up With Our Earliest Supporters! 📸

We invited some of our first Seashell supporters to join us on a photoshoot at Collieston Harbour this month. Maria, Vicki, and Carol have embodied the Seashell Spirit since day one, embracing the power of cold water therapy, wild swims, and community. Modelling alongside David and Scott, the ladies looked incredible in our brand new Towel Robes colours, launching later this month. We had an awesome day braving the cold and wind, and as always, James Heasman captured everyone brilliantly and we can't wait to share the shots.

We Interviewed Incredible Ocean Voices 🐳

It’s always an honor to connect with incredible individuals and explore their unique ties to the ocean. This month, we had the privilege of sharing the stories of Elanor Trigg, a 20-year-old marine biologist who journeyed to Alaska to study the endangered beluga whale population; Joshua Surjo, Indonesia’s most experienced freediving instructor; and Mandy Barker, a globally acclaimed photographer using her art to shed light on the devastating impact of marine plastic pollution. You can find their stories here.

And Finally...

Fresh off the festive fun of our Christmas night out, the entire team wants to extend a heartfelt thank-you for your incredible support this year. With plenty of exciting plans already in motion for 2025, we can’t wait to share what’s next. But for now, here’s to a fantastic December and a brilliant end to the year!
