We learnt more about Ghost Gear from CPWF Diver Lu! 🏴‍☠️

Our Camouflage Mission Robe is proudly dedicated to our charity partner, The Captain Paul Watson Foundation/Neptune's Pirates. With every purchase, 10% of the profits go directly to support the foundation's vital work. Their team of divers, leading the Ghost Net Campaign, scours the waters around the UK to recover lost and abandoned fishing gear. By removing these dangerous "ghost nets," they help clean our oceans and protect marine life from harmful, deadly traps. This month, we spoke to Louise De Lisle, diver and co-coordinator of the Dive Operations who started her journey with the foundation 8 years ago. Check out the video here.

Early Morning Cleans and Cold Sea Dips

This month's beach clean was completed on an early Saturday morning, followed by the Seashell weekly sea dip at 10am! Thankfully, the area we focused on around Footdee in Aberdeen was pretty clear, but we did locate a number of larger nets and rope trapped within the rocks that we can return to remove soon with knives.

We joined Cash4Kid's Big Dook 🌊

You might recall that last month we worked with Jamie Smith, the charity manager for Cash for Kids, to help him overcome his fear of the ocean in preparation for their major fundraising event, the Big Dook. The event took place On October 5th along Aberdeen Beach, and what a success it was!

At the time of the dip, the charity had raised £28,000, however the final figure was expected to reach the 30k goal. Around 100 people joined Northsound 1's Jeff and Lauren in the water, plus, Jamie celebrated his newfound love of the water by joining our famous ocean human pyramids!

We collaborated with Cornwall-based photographer Ceri 📸

We're lucky to work with some incredible photographers who help capture the Seashell Spirit. This month we worked with Ceri England, Cornwall-based photographer and travel enthusiast. It was our second shoot with Ceri, joined this time by models Leigh and Shane.

Big Recycling Progress 🪢

Progress is being made towards the goal of recycling and repurposing of the ghost net we have removed from our shores throughout the year as part of our Ghost Net 1000 Campaign.

Our goal has always been to prevent this net and rope from ending up in landfill, and the entire process has been both educational and eye-opening. Stay tuned to our social media accounts next month for an update on the final weigh-in, and don’t miss the chance to join our competition! Guess the total weight for a chance to win some Seashell goodies!

And Finally...

Would you like to join our beach cleans and sea dips as we head into Winter? Numbers tend to decrease, but we'll still be there! A reminder that we dip every Saturday at 10am at Aberdeen Beach, and host monthly cleans. Keep an eye on our socials, and feel free to come along if you're in the area.
